Have you had contact with the Wardens?

Please let us know what you think about the Wardens and the work they have done so we can measure the performance of the scheme and ensure we are delivering the best possible service. Click here to leave your comments.

Through our “I Love Selly Oak” campaign the Community Wardens aim to encourage all residents to get involved in, look after and feel proud of their local community.

The Community Warden scheme was set up by the Guild in 2005, and works with local organisations like the council, police and fire service to make Selly Oak (an area with a large student population near to the University’s Edgbaston campus) a cleaner, safer, nicer place to live. We believe that Selly Oak is a fantastic community, and we want you to think so to.

What we deal with:

Student Community Wardens are students from the University of Birmingham who are trained in dealing with issues within the community. If you need help with the following then we could help -

Where We Operate:

The Student Community Warden scheme operates within all areas of Bournbrook in Selly Oak. During the 2008/09 academic year there will be 16 wardens. They patrol the area on an ad hoc basis but they will patrol from 3-5pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays every week of the University term, door knocking and identifying community issues. Wardens will also be present at all TARA and Neighbourhood Tasking meetings. To find out where wardens will patrol, how to arrange a visit or when the next community meeting is, please email us or call 0121 251 2502.

How you can get involved:

The Community Warden scheme runs a number of events in the local community. These have included charity football tournaments and Pub Quizzes, numerous litter picks, photography competitions and volunteering within the community. If you want to get involved in an event or residents meeting within your local community please email us at community@guild.bham.ac.uk or call 0121 251 2502.
