Every student living in halls of residence or at home is represented by an Residence Association (RA). It is the RA’s job to ensure that all residents get the best possible experience in their accommodation by supporting and representing their needs as well as providing sporting, volunteering, environmental, charitable and social events for everybody to enjoy.
Each Committee is made up of 7 positions - President, Treasurer, Volunteering Officer, Representation Officer, Entertainments Officer, Sports Officer and Publicity Officer. All positions are elected by residents in their hall during RA elections held in November/December each year.
Each RA committee receives £108 per resident (on average), which is taken from accomodation fees to pay for the events and campaigns ran by your RA. This is your money, so please let the Guild or your RA know if you don’t think it is being spent wisely.

RA Committees are run by the Guild of Students in conjunction with University Hospitality & Accommodation Services (HAS).

Freshers Off-Campus Society (FOCSOC) is an RA committee dedicated to providing support and entertainment for those students who live at home, or in private halls of residence. Instead of a Representation Officer, FOCSOC have a Welfare Officer.
Res Exec is the fortnightly meeting of all RA committee members. Here the various RA committees can discuss future plans and ideas, learn about upcoming campaigns and allocate money to other groups, societies and organizations from the Residents’ Associations Partnership Fund (RAPF).
