► FOCSoc Elections

FOCSOC Elections 2009

Many students never live in University Accommodation during their time at Birmingham; either because they are a home student or decided to live in private accommodation during their first year. FOCSOC is the RA for these students, working to ensure that students who live off-campus have the same great experience that hall residents do. They organise events and activities to bring off-campus students together and provide welfare support including a buddy scheme. Becoming a FOCSOC Committee member is a great way to meet new friends and help your fellow Home and Off-Campus Students have a great time at University.

The positions available are:

President
Primarily leads the team, is the first point of contact for the RA and responsible for all external relations; represents the Hall within the Guild, the University and beyond.

Treasurer
RA’s have a substantial budget – the Treasurer makes sure it is spent in the interests of the Hall, its students, and events and activities are carefully budgeted for.

Volunteering Officer
The Volunteering Officer promotes volunteering opportunities and helps the Hall to make a difference outside of the hall. , They are also responsible for promoting recycling and environmentally-friendly initiatives,

Sports Officer
Organises sports teams, arranges matches and practise times. Represents the Hall at the Sports Forum within the Guild & University.

Publicity Officer
Controls external publicity in the Hall, promotes activity of the RA, produces publicity for RA events, and makes sure every resident knows who the RA is, as well as what they do.

Entertainments Officer
Organises social events and activities within the Hall. Is responsible for ensuring that the activities and events program is relevant to all students.

Welfare Officer
Represents the welfare needs of FOCSOC members and coordinating the buddy scheme.
