► Satellite Sites

Satellite Sites Header

As the Students’ Union for 28,000 students at the University of Birmingham, we’re keen to ensure that we addressing the needs of students based away from the main Edgbaston campus such as the Medical School, Ironbridge, Shakespeare Institutes or Selly Oak campus.

We recognise that you may not currently use our services but we’re here if you need us, and we’re keen to hear your views on what you want us to do to support you further.

There are a variety of ways in which we can support you:

Satellite Sites Officer

We are currently in the process of electing a Satellite Students Officer who is responsible for taking care of the needs of students who are based at Satellite Sites, and will work on a range of issues to ensure that the Guild’s services and activities are aligned to the needs of students at Satellite sites.

Job Zone

There are a variety of services you can access without having to be based on the main campus. Our Job Zone offers part-time and vacation work for students, to help financially support you through University. We also offer CV advice and drop-in sessions that you’re welcome to attend.

Click here to access the Job Zone on-line.

Advice and Representation Centre

Our Advice and Representation Centre (ARC) is here to support you on issues ranging from academic queries to financial issues. We also offer advice on-line. Click here to find out more about the ARC.

Get Involved

Being in one of our 190 student groups or volunteering helps you develop invaluable new skills, something that employers are always keen to see on your CV. Click here for more information and to find out how you can get involved.

Your Voice

We are a student-led organisation and by getting involved in how we are run, you can take control of your university experience. Last year, students successfully campaigned for reduced hall fees and free printing credits, turned out in record numbers for the Guild Officer Elections and made sure that the views of students were heard in the University’s Audit. Click here to find out how you can have your say.

Do you have a Student Rep to represent your school or department? Find out more about our Student Rep system by clicking here.

Fresher’s Off Campus Society (FOCSOC)

Fresher’s Off Campus Society caters specifically for everyone who lives off campus by arranging a range of social events and sporting activities. To find out more, please join the ‘FOCSOC 2009-2010' group on Facebook or e-mail:
