Applications

All applications are directed through Jane Healy, PA to the Chief Executive and President and will be made on the Guild’s application form. All applicants will be invited to complete an Equal Opportunities form.

Applications will be made anonymous during the selection process until interview to ensure that selection is based purely on ability with regards to the person specification.

Candidates are advised to note that if nothing is heard within two weeks of the closing date they must consider themselves unsuccessful on that occasion.

All application forms and supporting information will be held for a period of six months and any data and personal information will be held in accordance with the principles of the Data Protection Act 1998.

Normally, applications received after the closing date will not be considered. Late applications may be considered under particular circumstances at the PA’s discretion.

The Chair of the Interview Panel will inform the PA of the successful candidate and will contact the candidate to offer them the position on the Board.

Unsuccessful Candidates
Unsuccessful candidates will be informed that they have not been successful and given the opportunity of verbal / written feedback at a time convenient to them. This will be followed by a letter.

Unsuccessful candidates will also be asked to feedback on the interview process if they so wish to do so.

Complaints
Any complaint by existing staff or candidates relating to the conduct of any appointment will be pursued by the use of the Guilds Grievance procedure.

Application process
The Guild is also looking to set up a pool/database of interested/potential trustees.

If you would like to discuss the role and appointment process or any other aspect of the committee structure informally, or would like to visit the Guild of Students out of interest, please feel free to contact the President at president@guild.bham.ac.uk or his PA Jane Healy on (0121) 251 2304.
