The Community Warden Scheme was set up by the Guild in 2005 and is a partnership with the University of Birmingham. The scheme works with local organisations such as the council, police and fire service to make Selly Oak a safer, cleaner and greener place to live. Selly Oak is a fantastic community to live in and want you to think so to.
The Wardens can help you improve your local environment by providing you with the information, direction, advice and contacts you need to resolve community-based issues.
Community Wardens are students from the University of Birmingham who are trained in dealing with issues within the community. If you need help with the following then we could help:
The Community Warden Scheme operates within all areas of Bournbrook in Selly Oak. There are ten Wardens who patrol the area every week of the University term, door knocking and identifying community issues. Wardens will also be present at all TARA and Neighbourhood Tasking meetings.
To find out where wardens will patrol, how to arrange a visit or when the next community meeting is then please contact us
Community Wardens are here to facilitate improvements in Selly Oak by empowering local residents to make a change.
The Community Wardens also run a number of events in the local community. These have included charity football tournaments, pub quizzes, numerous litter picks, photography competitions and volunteering within the community.
If you want to get involved with any of the above or have any questions, please contact us
Please also visit our Facebook page I Love Selly Oak for information on forthcoming events. If you live in Bournbrook, your road will also have its own dedicated residents group
