Saturday morning play scheme (SMPS) is a volunteering group based at the University of Birmingham, and is run entirely by a student commitee and volunteers.

Each week we take a group of 13 children with various learning, behavioural and developmental disabilities on a range of fun activities such as to the zoo, or Cadbury world.

The majority of our children come from disadvantaged backgrounds and so we are providing them with an opportunity that otherwise may not be possible, in a safe, fun and supportive environment. Equally as importantly, we give parents and carers the chance to have a break for a few hours each week.

Unfortunately we are running low on funds for this year and so may not be able to run all of our activities. We are holding a Bucket a Shake in Harborne between 10-4pm on Tuesday 23rd September and would really appreciate it if you could come and help us! We are meeting at the Uni station at 9:30am on the Tuesday and will all walk to Harborne together, and volunteers can leave whenever they need.

If you would be able to come and help us, please email smps@guild.bham.ac.uk. We would be really grateful and you would help to  make a genuine difference to these children's lives!
