Throughout Welcome Week the Guild hosts a range of activities and events to help you settle into university life. They include day time activities such as the Welcome Week Fairs, trips to local attractions, tours of the city and evening events for example quiz and games nights, and of course the infamous Freshers’ Ball.

Our events and activities can help you get involved in volunteering and societies, meet local and national companies, and help you find part-time work. We’re also on hand in the run up to and throughout the week to help with any queries or questions you may have about student life at Birmingham.

Here is just a taster of what is happening during Welcome Week 2012 …

Monday 17th September:
Freshers’ Fair, Marquee on lawn, Guild of Students, 10am – 4pm. This is your opportunity to pick up amazing freebies from some of Birmingham’s best restaurants, retailers, nightclubs and bars. There is also the chance to get some great deals and discounts – the Freshers’ Fair can’t be missed!

Tuesday 18th September:
Freshers’ Fair, Marquee on lawn, Guild of Students, 11am – 4pm.
Jobs Fair, Underground, Guild of Students, 11am – 4pm. If you need to work to cover your living expenses whilst you study, the jobs fair can help you find temporary and part-time vacancies.

‘Mocktail’ Night, The Vale (Lower Rios), 7.30-10pm.
Freshers’ Fest Events, Club Air & Risa, City Centre, 9pm – 3am.


Thursday 20th September:
Volunteering Fair, Underground, Guild of Students, 11am – 4pm. If you want to volunteer your time on a regular or temporary basis, give something back to your community and enhance your employability skills, the volunteering fair can help you to find the right opportunity.

Society Fair, Marquee on lawn, Guild of Students, 11am – 4pm. Whether you want to continue a hobby, try something new or meet like-minded people this is your chance to find out about the 200 student groups at the Guild.
