Welcome to the Job Zone – The student jobshop in the Guild

As a University of Birmingham student, the Job Zone gives you access to part-time and temporary vacancies in the local area, both online and on display in the Job Zone.

Just register for our online jobshop service to search for all the current vacancies, and come in to visit us for further vacancy information and advice.

The Job Zone runs useful workshops and CV drop-ins to help you with your part-time job applications, as well as handouts to help you with all aspects of student employment – from how to complete an application form, to when to pay tax, to how much holiday you should expect from your employer.

There are regular Job Centre Adviser drop-ins in the Job Zone every Wednesday 12noon to 3 pm in term–time. Come and talk to the adviser if you need help finding part-time work – this is a recommended service for international students, dependents, students with disabilities, and lone parents.

Job Zone Opening Times
Term-time:
Monday to Thursday 10am to 5 pm
Friday 10am to 4 pm.

Vacations:
Monday to Friday 12 to 3 pm (please contact us to check before visiting)

University of Birmingham students from our satellite sites
If you are studying at the University of Birmingham, and you are based at one of the satellite sites, Selly Oak campus, School of Dentistry, Shakespeare Institute, or Ironbridge Institute, please contact the Job Zone via e-mail to enquire about vacancies. The Job Zone also has a vacancy board on display in the OLRC common room at Selly Oak campus. It includes a selection of latest news and vacancies, updated weekly in term-time.

Students from other UK universities or colleges
Students currently studying at other UK universities should use the student employment service or job shop on their own campus for term-time work. Contact the Job Zone if you need some useful contact details and links to help you to find employment.

The Job Zone is conveniently located on the ground floor of the Guild of Students. The Guild is building 01 in the Orange Zone on the main Edgbaston campus map.
