David is the Minister for Higher Education and Intellectual Property in the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills and is responsible for ensuring that we sustain and develop world-class Higher Education in the UK.

He was welcomed to the Guild by its President, Jen Larbie who led him on a short tour of the Guild of Students building, followed by lunch with the sabbatical officer team. The team asked him a series of questions and he specifically expressed his views on the forthcoming Higher Education Funding Review. David also commented on the role of Minority Ethnic politicians in Government and the differences between the University system in the UK and the USA, where David has studied at Harvard University.

David enjoyed his visit and was very impressed by the work of the Guild of Students and the officer team.
