Hi, I'm ‘Minnie’ Meg and I'm running to be your next Activities and Development Officer! I want to achieve 3 main things if elected:

  • One Click Payments

  • Society Support

  • More Media

Plus there’s some added extras for those of you that make it to the end (don’t worry it’s not long)

My experience is broad; I was an RA for Mason and a Guild Councillor twice. I'm currently on Carnival RAG Committee and have been since first year, I'm the secretary of Aussie Rules and I work at the Student Groups counter helping societies. Oh, I'm also in the final year of my Psychology degree. I’m level headed and I’m good at keeping my cool, especially when the unexpected happens. I like to consider others opinions but I’m happy to make tough decisions when it’s needed.

But what exactly do I want to achieve?

One Click Payments

Anyone who has ever bought a ticket on the Guild website knows the pain! Entering card details each time is time consuming and with fab tickets constantly selling out, that time is important.

I want to investigate whether we could implement a secure, safe, easy solution to purchase tickets online and on a mobile platform.

Society Support

Without a doubt societies do a huge amount. Each committee member, volunteer or helping hand is dedicated to a cause and as ADO I want to be able to help everyone involved; I’d always be there when you needed me.

If elected, I would extend the existing online committee training to include optional in-person and role-specific training, with easy access documents for reminders.

I'd also like to make updates to the Guild website to ensure that groups have information about deadlines, FAQ’s, and access to the forms they need.

Alongside this, I would run drop in sessions publicising when I’ll be available for questions, concerns and comments.

More Media

Our media groups are a massively under-appreciated resource.

I want to increase the presence of media groups across campus, including streaming Burn FM in more locations, increasing the capacity and distribution of our magazines and Redbrick as well as ensuring that Guild TV and PhotoSoc have better publicity.

I’d work towards gaining more funding for media groups through sponsorship to help with equipment, printing and broadcasting.

Rooms Revamp

I would continue to support the move to a fully online room booking system, whereby preferences and specific needs for all groups can be taken into account. I would work in the meantime to redesign the current booking form and aim for an online timetable so we can get more information on groups’ needs and/or flexibility to find bookings that work for everyone!

Society Spotlight

As ADO I would like to run weekly ‘Society Spotlight’. This would involve a weekly blog post promoted via Facebook and the media groups. In doing so, it will be possible to recognise and celebrate the hard work of committees, volunteers or members and ensure that any upcoming events got great coverage!
