Hello, I’m Fran Nash and I’m running to be your next LGBTQ officer. I’ve been involved with the LGBTQ association for most of my university life and I want to take an active role in the community.
I aim to put together a PDF handbook that can be emailed out to all welfare tutors and lecturers, as well as being available to students, that explains different sexual and gender orientations. It would also include advice on how to make the university learning experience more comfortable for all LGBTQ students. I would like to set up a workshop series as a companion to the handbook to allow welfare tutors and lecturers to ask questions and hear first-hand accounts from LGBTQ students in the system.
I would also like to collaborate with sports societies to improve the experience of LGBTQ students in sport and run events to tackle internalised homophobia and transphobia.
I would help the LGBTQ association to run more events for freshers on the Vale and other halls, and reach out to the satellite sites.
I would keep pushing for accessible gender neutral toilets in the Guild of Students.
