Hi! My name is Idil and I am running to be your Ethnic Minorities Officer 2016-17.
As Ethnic Minorities Officer, I have three main aims.
I aim to ensure that the university remains a safe environment for students of all backgrounds by promoting a zero tolerance attitude towards racism and religious hate crimes on campus and in the surrounding community.
I aim to bridge the attainment gap between BME and non-BME students by tackling institutional racism experienced by BME students in the education system.
I aim to encourage diversity and increase cultural awareness of those on campus by working closely with BME students in the form of BEMA and BME cultural societies.
