If you are giving up something for lent this year, be it chocolate, alcohol or social media, the streets of Selly Oak are something you shouldn’t be giving up on. This Pancake Day we are encouraging everyone to indulge themselves in a litter pick to help the streets of Selly Oak become cleaner followed by a complementary pancake at Cheeky Joes on Selly Oak high street.

It’s not the most glamourous task, but someone’s got to do it! We aim to inspire all students, permanent residents and staff members to help improve the environment on their doorstep.

You may think that anything to do with litter can’t be fun but a litter pick can be a fun and rewarding way of helping your community. Not only does a litter pick help make Selly Oak a cleaner place to live it also helps you meet new people, work off some extra calories ready for summer (did you know an average litter pick can help you burn off 232 calories!), and get some great work experience for your CV.

Start your lent promise off with a bang and meet us at the Guild at 1pm.
