STUDENT GROUPS ASSISTANT – RESIDENTS ASSOCIATION
Responsible to: Student Group Coordinator (RAs)
Outline of Post: To support the Resident Associates (RAs) with their projects as
directed by the Student Group coordinator (RAs) and Student Group
Senior Assistants, and to ensure a quality standard of administrative
work.
GENERAL DUTIES:
1. To work as part of the Student Groups team to ensure consistency and continuity of
service to Resident’s Associations
2. To support in event planning for the RA scheme, completing budgets, risk assessments,
etc. and flagging up issues to be addressed with the rest of the team.
3. To support in all aspects of the delivery of events for the RA scheme, including
stewarding, ticket selling, promoting and on the day support.
4. To engage with residents on a wide range of matters delivered through the RA scheme,
including feedback on issues and ideas for events.
5. To assist the communication of updates, news, tasks and relevant information from the
Student Group Coordinator to RA committees and residents.
6. To ensure all Student Groups policies and procedures are followed correctly and
working with the Student Group Coordinator and Student Group Senior Assistants to
ensure that any problems are addressed.
7. To assist at events such as Societies Fairs, open days or University Fairs, and other
projects.
8. To provide support to Student Group Coordinator (RAs) with longer-term projects and
tasks as required.
9. To observe Guild health & safety procedures. You have a responsibility to work safely at
all times and to report any potential hazards, faults or problems to a member of the
Student Groups team.
10. To attend work looking clean, smart and wearing the uniform provided.
11. To maintain a flexible approach to working duties.
12. To carry out other duties which naturally fall within the reasonable expectations of the
post.

? Strong communication skills in person and on the phone – with residents, university
staff, suppliers and the Student Groups Team
? Experience of handling cash
? Experience of using MS Word & Excel
? Ability to work in a team environment to achieve joint objectives and support your
colleagues
? Ability to use your own initiative to contribute to the team and on occasion selfgenerate
your work
? Flexibility, commitment and punctuality
? Ability to balance academic work with your responsibility to the Guild as your
employer throughout the academic year.
? Ability to stay calm and friendly under pressure in a busy environment.
? Desire to contribute to the development of the Student Groups department,
