Outline of Post: to act as a Panel Member for the Guild’s trial Scrutiny Group, examining the work of the Guild’s Officer Team. To prepare for and attend Scrutiny Group meetings and to have knowledge of the Guild’s Governance Structures and Bye-Laws

Duration of contract:   2018/19 academic year

GENERAL DUTIES:

1. To examine the work of the Guild’s Officer Team, by studying and analysing reports submitted by the Guild Officer Group, providing constructive feedback where appropriate
2. To attend Scrutiny Group Panel Member training, briefings and other meetings as required
3. Be aware of policy and Ideas passed through the Guild’s democratic structures
4. To monitor progress of the officer team against their manifesto, remit and policy
5. To provide and deliver comments on the progress and performance of Guild Officers for publication

PERSON SPECIFICATION

• Registered student at the University of Birmingham
• The ability to exercise good, independent, impartial judgement
• Ability to analyse reports and information, providing constructive feedback where appropriate
• Passionate about the values and mission of the Guild of Students
• Good knowledge of the issues affecting University of Birmingham students
