The Guild is delighted to announce that we have been awarded an “Excellent” status by the National Union of Students (NUS) Quality Students’ Unions accreditation.
This award comes after a two day auditing process in May 2017, in which all areas of the Guild’s activities, events and governance were assessed against the Quality Students’ Union standard, which assesses the quality and effectiveness of all students’ unions.
This award places the Guild among the very highest performing unions in the country. Ellie Keiller, Guild President, said:
“I’m incredibly proud that the Guild has been recognised as an “Excellent” union for Birmingham students and this award strengthens my confidence that we really are helping all students get the best from Birmingham. We pride ourselves on engaging with students on the issues that truly matter to them, and it is great to see this work recognised nationally!”
The Quality Students’ Unions auditor noted the range and quality of services that the Guild provides for students, and in particular “the dedication and commitment of the Union’s career and student staff”.
The report also noted: the Union’s, innovative practices such as “Your Ideas”, the Student Mentor Scheme and the International Buddy Scheme are sector leading and areas of real strength. Overall, the Guild should be extremely proud of all that does to ensure that University of Birmingham students “Get the best from Birmingham”.
This award comes as part of a string of recent achievements for the Guild, including the awarding of Investors in People Silver and Green Impact Excellence.
