Graphic which says 'Help in halls - Intro to the Student Mentors and Hall Reps'

It's a big transition moving into University accommodation, regardless of where you've come from. Luckily for you, we have teams specifically here to help you during your time living in halls! So, if ever you need some support, be sure to get in touch.

Who are we?

Student Mentor Scheme

The Student Mentor Scheme is a team of 15 current students, all of whom have been in your shoes. We offer peer-to-peer advice and support to all students living in University accommodation. We can help you with anything from settling in tours or answering any ‘how to’ questions like: how to use the washing machines or see your timetable, but we also help with wellbeing, shared living, academic queries and more. Even if we don't know the answer, we'll be able to direct you to someone that will!

When you move to university it’s common to have a mixture of feelings, including: homesickness, loneliness, feeling overwhelmed, all while being excited about new experiences. No matter the issue, please come and talk to us, or request for us to come and see you! It’s good to talk.

You’ll meet our team early in your University journey as we help you move in and visit your flat to deliver your Flat Welcome Meetings. Our service is really accessible, you can email, find us on Instagram or get in touch via Facebook or call us at: 0121 415 8568.

We can visit you, meet you virtually or on campus, or you can drop into our office in Shackleton, on the Vale (next to the Duck & Scholar). We're open 4pm-8pm Monday - Friday during term time, and 12pm – 8pm over arrivals weekend: 17th & 18th September.

Hall Reps

Image of the Hall Reps TeamThe Hall Reps are a team of students who host a range of fantastic events for students living in halls. Each hall has a dedicated Rep and it’s their job to make sure that you have the best and most memorable experience in halls by hosting lots of small-scale events throughout the year.

Not to mention, we will also host plenty of large-scale events, which will be organised by the whole Hall Reps team, kicking off with our Open Air Cinema and Freshers Fling in Welcome Week. We know moving into halls can be daunting, so once you arrive, the Hall Reps will make sure there are lots of opportunities to make friends and get to know people better. If you haven't already, be sure to check out our Welcome events!

Want to get in touch with us? Find us on Instagram, conntect with us on Facebook or send us an email.
