Officer Elections: Support for International Students

Guild of Students News Icon - Guild Elections International Officer

Every year, the Guild Officer Elections gives students the opportunity to elect seven of their peers to lead the Guild of Students. Last year’s campus-wide ballot saw over 8,500 students cast their vote to elect our current Guild Officer team. Nominations for Guild Officer Elections are now open and we’re delighted to be electing a full time International Officer for the very first time. This Officer will not only represent all international students here in Birmingham but also any students studying on a year abroad and those at our international campuses.

We don’t want any international students to be put off from applying to be part of our Officer team due to any concerns about visa’s or finances. That is why we’re offering any successful international students support by:

  • Covering Your Tier 4 Application Fees. We understand that extending a visa is a not a simple or cheap process. That’s why, to take some of the strain away, the Guild will fund the cost of applying for a visa extension.
  • Money up front. You may need a sum of money in your bank account to prove that you have the means to support yourself during your extended stay. To help with this the Guild will offer to give you an advance on your wages to support your application.

To find out more please read our Information for International Students Running for Full-Time Officer Positions. For support on visas and immigration please take a look at the International Students Advisory Service (ISAS) webpage.

If you think you would make a great leader want to ensure that every student gets the best from Birmingham, then apply now and #makeithappen.
