We’re excited to announce that our very own Venues Team has won the Gold award achieving 100%, in the National Union of Students’ (NUS) Best Bar None Awards 2019!  The Gold award is an amazing achievement and really recognises Venues for their continued hard work and dedication in promoting safe alcohol retailing, and student safety on campus and in the community.

What is Best Bar None?

Best Bar None is a national accreditation scheme supported by the Home Office. The scheme awards venues which operate responsibly by demonstrating a commitment to reducing alcohol-related crime, working to maintain a positive relationship with the local authorities and ensuring their venue promotes student safety both within the premises and in the community.

For the Venues Team to have received the Gold award with 100% is an incredible achievement which couldn’t go unnoticed!

Izzy Bygrave, Welfare and Community Officer commented: “The staff  in the Venues Team have done such a great job this year working with the Community Wardens to help keep the community around campus safe and peaceful at night, as well as keeping all students and customers safe inside the Guild. This award was definitely much deserved!”

We would like to say huge congratulations to the Venues Team for their amazing achievement. This is truly reflective of the Guild’s continued efforts to ensure student safety during nights out, and in the community.
