Global Goals B'ham is part of an international effort to fulfill the 17 Sustainable Development Goals set by United Nations which we hope to achieve these by 2030. The goals deal with various issues from education to gender equality. The University of Birmingham group was started by Shiraz Khan in 2012 and joined the Guild as a volunteering society in 2017.
We have worked on the following goals over the last few years: zero hunger, no poverty, clean water and sanitation, good health and well-being, quality education and gender equality.
Some of our projects include:
- Termly voluntary opportunities with the homeless
- Primary school dental workshops
- Bake sale for water aid - we raised £115
- Elderly home visit
- Secret Santa project where we donate presents to a hospice
- Hosted multi-disciplinary case study workshops
- Homeless period project where we donated sanitary products to homeless women

We are also a part of Universitas 21 which is a multi-disciplinary health sciences group. The objective is to engage staff and students to develop educational materials which can facilitate United Nations Sustainable Development Goals activity at both local and global levels; as well as hosting local projects to help deal with global health issues which are present on our own doorstep.
