How Do I Recycle

Recycling Collections

Birmingham City Council currently offers three doorstep recycling schemes:

  • Blue box/bag- Paper and card
  • Green box - Glass, Cans and Plastic bottles
  • Clear sack- Garden waste
Your recycling is collected every two weeks, with the blue and green boxes collected one week and the clear garden waste sack collected the other week. Please bear in mind that your recycling and refuse are not always collected on the same day of the week, so make sure you check which day is recycling day as it can vary depending on where you live. Please do not put your garden waste sacks out for collection at the same time as the boxes (unless told otherwise)

Again, you can use the table provided to check, or alternatively go to Birmingham City Council’s website
Birmingham City Council has a checking service which will advise you of your next recycling collections day: click here, and then click on ‘check your recycling, refuse day’.

Wheelie bin roads no longer have green box collections for recycling. All recycling will need to be taken to special on street collection bins. These are located:

There is an additional recycling bin located on Grange Road near to the gateway into university.
