As a Dentistry student I have often struggled with the logistics of studying mostly off main campus. It’s difficult to feel part of the student community or to benefit from the Guild when we are isolated; as your Satellites Sites Officer I aim to change that.
I want to improve transport: the current shuttle goes only to the Selly Oak campus. I’ll extend it to the Dental Hospital and increase its frequency so we have reliable transport. This will make it easier to attend Society events held at the Guild and use its outlets.
However, sometimes we don’t have time in our schedules to travel, so I aim to bring campus events like the Farmers Market to the Selly Oak campus too – we shouldn’t miss out just because we’re further away.
I’ll work with the Representation and Resources Officer to get Officers visiting Satellite Sites regularly, ensuring the Guild is aware of our needs and works for us. Lastly I’ll work with the Course Reps of all programmes based at Satellite Sites so that all students’ voices are heard.
Our university experience is just as important as everyone else's; I’ll make sure we benefit from the Guild equally.
