Junkbusters - Guild of Students

What is Junkbusters?

Junkbusters is a joint project between the Guild of Students and the University. Every year, we go out into Selly Oak and collect your unwanted clothes, books and household items to raise money for the British Heart Foundation - since 2011, we have raised over £135,000!

Our 2021 collection is a little different, given the ongoing Covid restrictions, but we still want to collect your items and raise money for our charity partners!

March collections

On Thursday 25th and Friday 26th March, we will be out in Selly Oak and at your accommodation villages (in collaboration with the fantastic Hall Reps) with stalls where you can leave your donated items to be collected.

All you need to do is fill up a bin bag with good quality, unwanted items and bring it to one of our stalls:

  • The cross over between Dale Road and campus (opposite Bournbrook Pavilion) 2-4pm
  • Arley Road (by University South Gate) 2-4pm
  • The corner of Heeley Road and Dartmouth Road 2-4pm
  • The corner of Dawlish Road and Coronation Road 2:30-4:30pm
  • The corner of Raddlebarn Road and Bournbrook Road 2:30-4:30pm
  • Outside Vale Reception (Shackleton) 3-5pm Thursday, 1-3pm Friday
  • Outside Pritchatts Park Reception (Pritchatt’s House) 3-5pm Thursday, 1-3pm Friday

What can we collect?

  • Clothes and shoes
  • Handbags
  • Jewellery
  • Sports equipment
  • Kitchenware
  • Cutlery, crockery, pots and pans
  • Ornaments
  • Toys and games

  • Bedding, linen (including duvets, pillows etc)

Please ensure that all the items that you are donating are of a good quality standard, which can be of good use to charities.
