Our new Democratic System has been running since the start of the academic year and we wanted to update you on the Ideas and Policy that have come through the system. We’re working on implementing lots of them and some of them are still working their way through the system.

You can find all these Ideas on our website. All Ideas, Policy or Scrutiny Questions that have been action have been marked as “Passed”. Those that we’re working on are marked as “Locked”.

Done!

All Student Vote 3 and Future All Student Votes for the Academic Year:

At this stage there are no items ready to progress to the All Student Vote 3, scheduled to run from the 26th February. Alongside this, it was decided by Full Time Officer Group (FTOG) that notice should be provided for students to engage and express interest in joining a Guild Action Group for our outstanding Belief and Commitments and for students to inform if these items should go to All Student Vote 4 or 5, as noted below.

Beliefs and Commitments

As outlined on our Guild of Students All Student Vote Webpage the Guild will be re-submitting a series of outstanding Belief and Commitments which will need re-approval within the Democratic System.

As we cannot process all these Belief and Commitments at the same time, your Full-Time Officer team have allocated them in the following order, based on our remaining All Student Votes of the Academic Year. This being All Student Vote 4 w/c 29th April 2024 and All Student Vote 5 w/c 10th June 2024.

Items for All Student Vote 4

  • Anti-Racism and Anti Fascism
  • Discrimination
  • Feminism
  • Climate Change
  • The Guild’s Response to Anti-Semitism

Items for All Student Vote 5

  • Academic Representation
  • Consultation
  • European Union
  • Postgraduate Experience
  • Postgraduates Who Teach
  • Societies
  • The Student Movement
  • Zero Tolerance to Sexual Harassment

You can read the details of these Belief and Commitments on our live policy tracker.

Would you like to be involved in Guild Action Groups which will help shape how these outstanding Belief and Commitments are updated and how they progress (i.e: direct implementation or to the All-Student Vote?)

Sign up for the Belief and Commitments you’d like to work on!

The Student Voice Department will then be in touch with next steps and key dates. Any further questions can also be directed to the Student Voice Team.
