The University of Birmingham, Guild of Students has extended congratulations to Guild President, Amira Campbell on being elected President of the National Union of Students (NUS UK).

The results were announced by NUS UK on 12 April, with Amira taking office from July 2024 for a two-year term.

Speaking on behalf of the Guild, Jo Thomas, Chief Executive said:

“Amira has made an immeasurable impact at the Guild during her time as President, which has seen her curate a number of equality, diversity and inclusivity projects, fight for student Workers’ Rights, ensure students have the platform to challenge West Midlands Mayoral candidates, and advocate policy changes to improve the experience of medical students here at the University.

“We know from her time working with us, she will be an invaluable asset to the wider student movement, and we’re delighted we’ll be able to continue working with her when she takes up her role at NUS UK.

“We are very proud of Amira, and look forward to supporting her term as NUS UK President, as she continues to raise the voices of students across the nations, fighting to ensure that they are prioritised, represented and supported.”
