The Guild of Students was shocked and saddened by the horrific attack on Finsbury Park last night. We offer love and support to all of those affected by this act of terror.
We ask that all members of our community to stand with us against this hateful attack – and to offer their support and solidarity to our Muslim brothers and sisters, both on campus and beyond, affected by these incidents, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan.
We are proud that our university is a diverse community and that we represent a student body made up of members of all races, faiths, nationalities, sexualities, genders and abilities. We stand with Birmingham students in firm opposition to the rhetoric of hate expressed in recent events, both in London and Manchester, and reconfirm our shared community values of tolerance, respect and openness.
If you have been affected by this weekend’s events, we are here to help. Guild Advice can offer you free and confidential support – find out how to contact them here. They are also a Third Party Hate Crime Reporting Centre. The University also have a number of support and advice services you can talk to, along with a Harassment Advice Service.
