Welcome to the newly established International Development Society. Our membership is open to all students studying or with an interest in international development. Prior knowledge of the field is not essential as we are all here to learn and grow!
This society meets every fortnight on a Wednesday at 6pm. The society provides an opportunity to reflect and engage in lively topical debates about global development efforts -particularly in relation to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)- with like-minded peers. We promote and encourage intellectual diversity and seek to enhance our understanding of the world and how we can make it sustainable.
However, it’s not all about the discussions. There will be social events and many opportunities to participate in exciting group activities that will make you think on your feet. This means there is an opportunity to socialise and cultivate close friendships.
We hope to organise conferences, student panels, awareness campaigns, field trips, fundraising and volunteering opportunities. Further, efforts will be made to keep you up to date with internships and jobs and reach out to international development alumni and practitioners who can share their on the job experiences.
