As exciting moving in weekend can be, it can also be a little hectic and overwhelming! We are here to support you if things get a little bit too much.
As exciting moving in weekend can be, it can also be a little hectic and overwhelming! We are here to support you if things get a little bit too much. When you arrive at your accommodation site, you will be greeted by our friendly welcome team, who will be in green t-shirts. They will help you move your boxes and belongings into your flat and give you the chance to ask any questions about Uni life!
A key tip is to have your student ID at hand, to gain easy access into your flat and bedroom. You can also ask our welcome team where the nearest facilities are, for instance: reception, the laundry rooms or where to keep your bike. They are always here to help!
Overcoming Nerves
It is perfectly normal to feel nervous and anxious as soon as you move in, moving away from home is a big step! Remember that you aren’t alone in this, and there will be many other students feeling the exact same as you. It’s important to give yourself some time to process your new surroundings if you feel overwhelmed.
A great way to ease your nerves is to just put on some of your favourite music and start decorating your new room and making it feel homely and familiar. You can also meet new people and take your mind off things with the Pizza Parties that are held in every accommodation during Welcome! You can see all the events taking place in your accommodation, on the Guild’s website.
The Guild of Students Welcome website has lots of information about more Welcome activities, like the Welcome Fair, Societies Fair, Explore Birmingham Fair and much more!
