Packing for university can be really tricky! Here’s a little bit of guidance on what I wish I had brought to university and what I wish I had left behind!
Three things I wish I had brought:
- Extension Lead – This is super helpful for your laptop, lamp, hair dryer etc!
- Doorstop – Having a door stop especially during move in day is a great way to help make friends with your new flatmates while you are unpacking
- Lamp – this is great for reading at night and is often forgotten in the chaos of packing. It also makes your new room feel more homely.
Here’s some advice so you avoid overpacking like I did…
Three things I wish I had left behind:
- Excessive pots and pans – your flatmates will bring some too and you may end up sharing to save kitchen space. Realistically you may only need perhaps 2 (or maybe 3) plates, bowls, pans etc.
- Excessive pairs of shoes – stick to 2 or 3 pairs to save space in your wardrobe
- Ironing board – I know a few people who brought an ironing board and did not use it all! Save the space – future you will thank you!
