Important information

2.1    The objectives of the group shall be:
2.1.1    To provide a welcoming, safe, and inclusive environment for students from North Indian backgrounds, as well as for students from all cultures who wish to engage with North Indian traditions and community life.
The society aims to create a strong sense of belonging and a “home away from home” for members by building friendships, shared experiences, and meaningful connections.

2.1.2    To celebrate and promote the cultural heritage, traditions, languages, festivals, music, food, and arts that are distinctive to North India.
To actively highlight and organise events around region-specific and lesser-represented festivals such as Gangaur (Rajasthan), Gudi Padwa (Maharashtra), Lohri (Punjab), Chhath Puja (Bihar/UP), Teej, Baisakhi, and similar celebrations that are often underrepresented within broader cultural or religious societies at the university.

2.1.3 To organise regular social events, movie nights, informal gatherings, and community meetups that encourage friendship-building, social integration, and emotional support.
These events aim to reduce feelings of homesickness, loneliness, and cultural adjustment challenges by fostering a supportive student network.

2.1.4 To support members’ professional and personal development through career guidance sessions, CV and LinkedIn review workshops, alumni talk, networking events, and industry-specific discussions.
The society will also encourage members to support one another by sharing internship opportunities, part-time job openings, and career-related resources throughout the academic year.

2.1.5 To host state-based community gatherings and cultural food nights that celebrate the diversity within North India itself. These events may allow members from different North Indian states to host themed evenings where they can showcase their regional food, traditions, language, and shared experiences, creating a deeper understanding of the diversity within the North Indian community.
