Important information

2.1        The objectives of the group shall be:

2.1.1     To establish a representative and inclusive platform for students from Central Asian backgrounds, particularly those from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and neighbouring regions, who are currently underrepresented within existing student societies.

2.1.2     To foster a strong sense of community and belonging among members by recognising and celebrating the shared cultural, linguistic, and historical connections between Central Asian countries.

2.1.3     To promote awareness and appreciation of Central Asian culture within the wider University of Birmingham community through cultural, social, and educational initiatives, including the celebration of traditional events such as Nowruz, independence days, and cultural festivals.

2.1.4    To support the academic and professional development of members by organising career-focused events, networking opportunities, and guest speaker sessions involving professionals, organisations, and representatives connected to Central Asia.

2.1.5    To encourage intellectual and cultural exchange by facilitating discussions, collaborations, and events related to Central Asian history, politics, economics, and contemporary issues.
