Curious about surgery? UoB SurgSoc is a student-led society open to all University of Birmingham students, particularly those studying healthcare-related subjects. Whether you are already considering a surgical career or simply want to explore the field, no previous experience is needed - just curiosity and enthusiasm.
🟡 Annual Surgical Conference: Hear from surgeons, clinicians and academics while exploring surgical specialties, career pathways and developments in the field. 🔵 Surgical Skills Workshops: Develop practical skills through suturing, hand tying, microsuturing, laparoscopic skills and theatre etiquette sessions. 🟡 Guest Lectures and Career Talks: Gain insight into surgical training, research, specialist careers and life in the operating theatre. 🔵 Annual Anatomy Away Day: Visit the Gordon Museum of Pathology and receive anatomy and pathology teaching from professors and consultants. 🟡 Mentorship and Opportunities: Connect with students, senior peers and speakers, opening the door to mentorship, networking, research opportunities and future collaboration. 🔵 Community and Socials: Meet like-minded students through educational events, conferences and relaxed socials.
