We're InterVol, the University of Birmingham's International Volunteering Society. Each year we fundraise money and send out groups of students to volunteering projects with sustainable NGOs all over the world. In previous summers we have travelled to countries such as Cambodia, Uganda, Bulgaria, Kenya, Ghana, Ecuador, South Africa, Nepal and Poland to take part in a wide range of activities, including teaching English, conservation work, teaching sports to children and much more.
One of the best things about InterVol: it's free!
Unlike the big volunteering travel companies out there, we charge no middle man/admin costs in order to volunteer abroad. This is because we are fully student run, relying on the hard work and commitment of committee members and trustees within the Guild and InterVol itself. You only pay for flights and personal expenses.
We understand that as students you want to travel and experience the world, but without having to pay ridiculous costs. By volunteering abroad you can see the world in a way that is so different to just going on holiday. It's a great opportunity to immerse yourself into a different culture and see the country from a different perspective.
This is something most people only have the chance to do while at university so we make it as easy and accessible as possible to ensure that you can have this opportunity. Students fly out and participate in the projects over summer. So why not make the most out of the break?
