Tamil

UoB Tamil Society provides a platform to unite Tamil students from different religious and geographical locations. Tamil is more than just a language; it represents a rich culture which this society aims to embrace. Furthermore, the society has a good cause behind it where all money raised will go towards a children's and eldery charity based in North and East Sri Lanka called ‘Sivan Arul Illam’.

UoB Tamil society will put on several events such as movie nights, karaoke nights, nights out and our favourite, weekly; Gaana lessons. In addition, it will represent University of Birmingham in larger scale events such as Kings of Gaana, National Kuthu Nights, Megamaalai and Faceoff. During the last academic year we participated in the Tamil Dance Competition - judged by Kala Master herself - winning first place! UoB Tamil society has something to offer everyone whether you are a Tamil or not, so don’t hesitate to join!

Also watch out for Mayuri 2018, a dinner and dance event held in January - our biggest event of the year! It was a great success this year and all proceeds go to charity!
