Tamil
UoB Tamil Society provides a platform to unite Tamil students from different religious and geographical locations. Tamil is more than just a language; it represents a rich culture which this society aims to embrace. Furthermore, the society has a good cause behind it where all annual profits will go towards a charity based in North and East Sri Lanka called ‘Child First UK’.
UoB Tamil society will put on several events such as movie nights, karaoke nights, nights out and our favourite, fortnightly; Gaana/Classical lessons. In addition, it will represent University of Birmingham in larger scale events such as Kings of Gaana. We've won 2 dance competitions, first in 2017 at the Tamil Dance Competition (TDC) which was judged by Kala Master herself, and then in 2020 at Showdown! UoB Tamil society has something to offer everyone whether you are a Tamil or not, so don’t hesitate to join!
Also watch out for Mayuri 2021, a dinner and dance event held in January in Birmingham - our biggest event of the year! It was a great success this year and all proceeds go to charity!
