Birmingham Students for Choice

Birmingham Students for Choice intends to ‘Give A Voice To Choice’ on  campus, protecting and campaigning for bodily autonomy and reproductive health, particularly in relation to abortion rights.

As a UoB society, we are mindful of the grassroots campaigners in Birmingham during the 1960s who helped first make abortion safe, legal and free for all women, and we hope to sustain and continue their important legacy.

Founded in 2019, we set out to ensure that pro-choice activism is seen as a fundamental tenet of intersectional feminism. We aim to do this through:

  • Fundraising for various women’s sexual health and pro-choice charities, that work on both a local and global scale.
  • Educating both the student population and wider community about issues relating to reproductive and sexual health.
  • Campaigning for the rights and bodily autonomy of all people, acting as a platform for students to challenge the problems enshrined within a pro-life dialogue, and empowering them to engage in peaceful and organised social activism.
  • Talking about and exploring issues relating to abortion, bodily autonomy and reproductive health, facilitating open discussion within an inclusive and safe environment.

With regular socials and weekly meetings, you can get involved as much or as little as you like. Everyone is welcome - like our page on Facebook or drop us a message to find out more!
