Birmingham Nightline is a confidential and anonymous listening and information service run by students, for students of both Aston University and the University of Birmingham. It is a support service run by volunteers that is open to students on every night of term and regularly through the holidays. Students can contact us via email, IM, phone and drop in and talk to us about whatever they wish to, in a confidential and non-judgemental environment.
To volunteer with us, simply attend one of our multiple information sessions, held at both the start of the academic term and shortly after Christmas. If you are interested in applying after attending one of these sessions then you can fill out a form, through which you are selected for training. Training will then take place over two following weekends, and afterwards, you will be able to volunteer with Nightline and support other students through any issues with which they are struggling.
Please do not become a member through the Guild website unless you currently volunteer with us. If you would like to be kept up to date with our activities or find out more about becoming a volunteer, please follow us on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram or drop us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org
To ensure that you get what you need from us, when you need it, we have created a set of promises which we will always aim to deliver.
Every year, you elect fellow students to your Officer Team, who represent you and lead your union. Each Officer has their own roles and remit which you can view below. You have a chance to make sure your elected Officers are doing what they said they will, by attending Officer Question Time held each term.
