Model United Nations ( or MUN) is a simulation of the United Nations with students assuming the role of delegates representing a country. The aim is to debate current affairs and real-world issues from the point of view of UN member states and create a resolution for that issue. Model UN gives you the opportunity to develop public speaking and debating skills in a fun environment!
We run weekly debates and socials throughout the year. We also have exciting one-off crisis events where everyone assumes a role in solving an issue in real time. At the moment we're running those on our Discord Server.
In normal times we also send students to external conferences across the country, giving you the chance to take part at a national and international level. Our society, through our meetings and events, is the place to find like-minded people, make friends for life and enjoy an enriching university experience.
We welcome people of all abilities, from any subject, so come along and give it a go.
The best way to get involved is to like us on Facebook and join our Facebook Group - you'll be invited to all our events that way!
We also have an Instagram - @unsocbham and a Twitter - @UoB_UN_Society
