Guild and University events
If you’re not making a trip home over the break, why not come along to some of our events at the Guild and the University? Simrah, the Guild’s International Officer, and Ronak, the Ethnic Minority Students’ Officer, are hosting a Cultures Connect Winter Social – giving you the chance to take part in festive activities and meet other students who may be staying here over Christmas.
Living in UoB or partner accommodation? Celebrate with others staying in halls with a Christmas lunch or festive feast box. Head to the Shack at the Vale Village for a three-course Christmas Lunch on 23 December but make sure to book your place by 1pm on 13 December! You can also order a Festive Feast Box to collect on 24 December to cover your Christmas and Boxing Day meals – just make sure you order a box by 1pm on 13 December.
We've partnered with the University to prepare some wonderful Christmas gift boxes for those living in accommodation to collect from your site reception from 23rd December. These are free gifts, but numbers are limited and will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis — so be sure to pick yours up as soon as you can!
As part of their Christmas on Campus page, the University has put together some unmissable events taking place on campus and the city so make sure to take a look!
What’s on in Birmingham
If you’ve been out and about in Brum city centre, you’ve probably already noticed the Frankfurt Christmas market. It’s the largest authentic German Christmas market outside of Germany – you can expect pretzels, authentic gifts and hot chocolate.
Fancy showing off your ice-skating skills? Birmingham has its very own weatherproof ice-skating rink, so grab a friend and get into the festive spirit. If Ice skating isn’t for you, then why not slow it down and take in the sights of Birmingham on the Big Wheel instead?
It’s also worth checking out local guides to help you keep busy this Christmas.
Support over Christmas
Your Guild of Students will be closed over the Christmas holidays from:
During this time, our telephone lines, emails and social media accounts won’t be monitored. We’ve put together a help and support webpage so if you need any support over the festive period, you’ll know where to go.
