Sakshi Palve

LGBTQ+ Students' Officer

Pronouns: She/her

I’m an MSc Advanced Computer Science student from India and a first-generation master’s student. I love blending creativity and empathy with logic - from curating a TEDx event and volunteering during COVID-19 to writing poetry. Outside of work, I love listening to music and talking to my favourite people.

What would you like to achieve in your role as an Officer this year?

As an international queer student, I understand that settling into a new environment with this political climate can be daunting. My main goal is to ensure all students feel truly welcome in every aspect of university life, from social events to policy-making.

Make Activities Inviting: I want to ensure all our activities are welcoming, regardless of your identity or journey with it. I will work to make our general spaces feel safer and less intimidating for anyone who feels uncomfortable or out of place.

Low-Social Events: I plan to introduce relaxed environments, like study sessions with snacks and music. These offer a way to find community without the overwhelming pressure, perfect when socialising feels difficult.

Inclusive Policy: I aim to bridge the gap for those hesitant to speak up. I want to ensure your voice shapes our university, even if you are not comfortable being yourself in the spotlight.
