Welcome to MedSoc Cricket — the undisputed greatest cricket club on campus*.
We are a mixed-sex, mixed-ability cricket club open to everyone, whether you’re chasing an Ashes call-up or have never picked up a bat before.
At £35 for the year, this is one of the cheapest MedSoc Sport memberships, and by far cheaper than University of Bham Cricket — ideal if you're looking to try something new; a club on the rise, perhaps (MedSoc Rising Star Society 2023-24)! Provided you have a MedSoc membership, this cricket club is open to students across the entire university - no matter your degree.
Throughout the winter months, we run weekly indoor net sessions to keep the rust off (and to escape the rain). These sessions are the perfect chance to meet new people and have a laugh, with different nets catering for all abilities. We have a strong beginner contingent for anyone looking to start something new this year, as well as experienced players.
Come summer, we take to the pitch with matches against other universities, friendlies against local teams, and potentially a NAMS (National Association of Medical Schools) cricket tournament for a bit of competition. Last year, we had great victories against UCL Medics and Warwick Medics with a great Inter-Club game outdoors, and we also competed against Liverpool, KCL, Leicester and Nottingham Medics in some winter indoor fixtures.
But it’s not all about cricket — we’ve got a brilliant social scene too! We host at least one social a month, ranging from sober socials to pub golf, plus our annual trip to SIXES Social Cricket for some friendly competition for those all-important bragging rights. Of course, we welcome purely social members in addition to our playing members.
No competitive trials, no experience needed — just come along to a session and see what we're about.
