Birmingham Widening Access to Medical Sciences (BWAMS) Society is a nationally recognised society which aims to support students from widening participation backgrounds pursue healthcare careers. Our hope is to make the NHS representative of the people it serves, and so far, we have reached thousands of students!
Over the past years, we have organised a range of virtual and in-person events - including national conferences, school outreach, and Mock MMIs for aspiring healthcare students - for underrepresented students from a variety of age groups. We also participate in numerous conferences to present our research outcomes to promote the work we do to the wider society.
We are honoured to do the work we do, and the heartwarming feedback we receive continues to fuel our work further. We welcome students from every healthcare course to join us! Sign up as a volunteer now and work with us at our events while developing your portfolio!
