Wilderness Med

Birmingham Wilderness Medicine Society (BWEMS) is the perfect society for students interested in wilderness and expedition medicine, or for those who simply just love the outdoors! 
 
As a society, we run day events across Birmingham focused on building practical skills through simulation, as well as an annual symposium where clinical experts from a variety of medical backgrounds share their experiences and knowledge. 
 
 
If you’re a keen climber, or want to give it a try, we also run climbing sessions suitable for all abilities. This is a great way to meet like-minded students from across the University and develop your skillset. 
 
The highlight of the year is the weekend away, packed with realistic medical simulations, inspiring talks, and hikes – all designed to better equip students for real-life emergencies in the wilderness. 
 
Whether you are set on a career in wilderness medicine, or simply just looking for a fun and welcoming society, BWEMS has something for everyone. We hope to see you this year!
