Membership Options
We are a student-led society dedicated to all things emergency and pre-hospital medicine. Whether you’re a first-year who just wants to find out more about what the specialty has to offer, or a final-year wanting to brush up on management of an acute patient or considering applying to ACCS, BEMS offers something for every level of experience.
Membership to our society is free, and our events are open to all students, with a focus on medicine and nursing students. Sessions are delivered by a passionate team made up of experienced students, emergency medicine doctors, paramedics, and nurses, creating a welcoming and supportive learning environment.
Our A–E Teaching Series is a hands-on, practical programme focused on the structured A–E approach to assessing unwell patients. Taught by clinicians from the ED and prehospital environments, it goes beyond the basics to build real confidence in managing the acutely unwell patient both in and out of hospital.
We also run simulation nights where students can apply skills in realistic emergency scenarios, helping to bridge the gap between theory and practice.
For students in clinical years, there are opportunities to support teaching as expert patients with pre-hospital resources.
