We are a student-led society created by PhD researchers, for PhD researchers. Our mission is simple: to bring together doctoral candidates from across disciplines, foster meaningful connections, and support you throughout every stage of your PhD journey. Whether you’re in your first year finding your feet or approaching submission, the PhD Society is here to help you feel part of a vibrant, supportive research community.
Being part of the UoB PhD Society means more than just networking. We organise a range of social events, from relaxed coffee catch-ups to showcasing your amazing projects, giving you the chance to meet fellow researchers beyond your department. PhD life can sometimes feel isolating, but it doesn’t have to be. Our society provides a space to share experiences, celebrate milestones, collaborate across disciplines, and build friendships that last well beyond graduation. We’re also committed to representing postgraduate voices here at the University of Birmingham.
