Convince the University to sell the Red Stack and use the profits to invest in areas experiencing budget cuts.
The sale of the Red Stack art installation and the reallocation of funds to departments in need.
Not all departments recieve the same revenue, a more appropriate celebration of the University's 125th anniversary would be to improve its everyday function. Schools have had to compromise on the quality of education provided to their students (who are paying more and more expensive costs of tuition) due to budget constraints, an example of this exists within the School of Physics and Astronomy where PhD student led marking has been abolished and taught workshops have been changed from focus groups to impersonal lectures.
The Guild should pressure the University to this action as well as voicing their support for this matter. Make it clear that the quality of education will not come at the cost of showboating.
How can we convince the University to take action on this?
How can we demonstrate our dissatifaction of the allocation of funds?
How will we make the student know that we won't stand for their quality of education being forfeit for luxuries?
