Powerlifting

***An additional £75 will be offered to cover the full year (this additional fee will be dropped to £30 for those joining in term 2),  the initial £25 will cover the first 4 weeks of training sessions (after the tasters) and your society membership. You’ll only need to purchase the bolt on if you want to continue coming to the training sessions. ****

Welcome to Powersoc, we hope to engage powerlifting as a sport and a hobby, looking to widen access and create an encouraging and nurturing environment for all interested strength sports and health.

Powerlifting is a very simple sport; it is just about being strong. This strength is displayed in the squat, bench, and deadlift.

Everyone is welcome to train with us: from people who don’t know which end of the barbell to pick up, to seasoned lifters looking to compete. We’re introducing a new club coach this year, international medal winning powerlifter Kelly Phasey. She has been part of the Great Britain team since 2014 and has a wealth of experience in coaching and competing.

We offer weekly training sessions alongside weekly socials, including sports nights and more subdued pub trips. We run sessions Tuesday evenings and Saturday afternoons.

We also hold an annual mock meet around December time for new lifters to experience competing in a friendly atmosphere. More experienced lifters will have the opportunity to compete for the UoB team at the British University Championships!
