The society is a sign language group which teaches students basic sign language. We run a British Sign Language (BSL) Level 1 course. The course is one year long, with evening classes taking place each week of term and an exam at the end of each term. Topic areas include, the alphabet, numbers, colours, the calendar, describing yourself and your family, jobs, directions and many more. At the end of the year students who have successfully completed the course and passed all three exams will have gained a qualification in BSL Level 1.
There are also various socials and fundraisers throughout the year that members can get involved in outside of class.
Please note that on top of the membership fee, there is also a sizable course fee of £255 for those wanting to do the level 1 course (but still far cheaper than it would be to do the course elsewhere). More information and tickets for the course will be available here.

To ensure that you get what you need from us, when you need it, we have created a set of promises which we will always aim to deliver.
Every year, you elect fellow students to your Officer Team, who represent you and lead your union. Each Officer has their own roles and remit which you can view below. You have a chance to make sure your elected Officers are doing what they said they will, by attending Officer Question Time held each term.
