Community Wardens

Who We Are & What We Do

Your Community Wardens are a team of students based at the Guild, who work for a safer, cleaner, greener community for all. We encourage all residents to get involved in, look after and feel proud of their local community.

We also work in partnership with the University of Birmingham and local organisations (like the Council, Police and Fire Service) to help make the local area a fantastic community to live in.

The Wardens can help you make your community a better place to live by providing you with information, advice and contacts to help you resolve any issues or problems you may be facing. We can help you with:

  • Keeping your home safe
  • Damp, unsafe & unmaintained houses
  • Recycling
  • Getting rid of rubbish
  • Rats & other vermin
  • Problems with your landlord
  • Getting your deposit back
  • Problems with your neighbours
  • Anti-Social Behaviour

We also run a number of community initiatives with local groups, including working with schools and joining local litter picks. We’d love to help you get involved!

Where We Work

We’re mainly out and about in the Bournbrook area of Selly Oak – and across the wider area where University of Birmingham Students live in wide numbers.

There are 8 of us patrolling the streets of Bournbrook and the surrounding area during the University’s term time, door knocking and identifying community issues. We also attend various community and residents’ meetings.
