Birmingham Medics and Me

2.1 The objectives of the society shall be to:

a) Widen participation in medicine by supporting students from non-selective state schools in Birmingham through mentorship, application guidance, and exposure to medical careers.

b) Provide structured support for prospective medical applicants through activities including mock MMIs, personal statement guidance, academic workshops, and problem-based learning sessions.

c) Create long-term mentorship networks by connecting prospective applicants with medical students, and medical students with doctors, to support development from application through to a career in medicine.

d) Support medical students throughout medical school by providing teaching opportunities, OSCE practice, specialty talks, leadership development, and access to research opportunities.

e) Build sustainable partnerships between schools, medical students, and healthcare professionals to foster collaboration, inspiration, and peer support across all stages of training.
